Forthcoming Aire Rivers Trust (and Friends) Events

Friends of Bradford’s Becks have a litter-pick this Saturday (5th May) on Bradford Beck which will run from 10am until midday.

Meet by the Nisa store at the junction of Valley Road and Poplar Road. Volunteers are advised to wear boots and warm clothing – litter pickers, gloves, bags and hot drinks will be provided by the organisers.

There will be another litter-pick on Clayton Beck next Wednesday between midday and 3pm.

Friends of Bradford’s Becks will also be running a series of guided walks over the next couple of months, all walks start at 10:30 and participants are advised to wear boots as some muddy ground is expected on most routes, and to bring their own refreshments.

The walks are:

Saturday 19th May – Pinch Beck and tributaries circular which is a 3.5 mile walk including three steepish climbs and a very boggy bit – meet at Thornton Primary School.
Thursday 24th May – Chellow Dene and reservoirs circular, 4 miles, easy walking – meet at entrance to Chellow Dene.
Sunday 10th June – Loadpit Beck and Little Beck, 3.5 miles of easy walking “exploring Salt’s Waters and Milners Fields – meet at Half Moon Café, Roberts Park, Saltaire.
Saturday 23rd June – Five becks circular, 4 miles of easy walking – meet at entrance to Chellow Dene.

The River Worth Friends will host an evening at Central Hall, Alice Street, Keighley from 7 until 9pm on Friday 11th May, the Friends will give a presentation and hope to “discuss the challenges and benefits posed by our local river”, all are welcome.

On Saturday 12th May the Ebor Lane & Railway Children’s Walk Community Clean Up will take place between 10:30am and 12:30pm. It will be followed by refreshments in the Masonic Hall with an opportunity to find out more about the work of the Aire Rivers Trust and to discuss your ideas for a way forward to look after the site.
