There will be a work party at Coppice Pond on Sunday 25th March. If you want to see restocking take place within the next 12 months, please step forward and help us get the work done now. The plan is to make improvements and protection so that aquatic plants can be re-introduced safely away from the ravages of the geese. This will provide shelter for the fish from predators and spawning habitat to allow the fish to breed more successfully. Aire Rivers Trust Litter Picks

The latest Aire Rivers Trust litter pick is this Saturday 24th March at Charlestown, meet at 10 am at the “eastern end of Dockfield Road” (Shipley) – by the viaduct and Woodbottom footbridge. Boots and warm working clothes are advised but gloves, litter pickers, bags (and tea, coffee and biscuits) will be provided. There will be another litter pick at Rye Loaf Meadow, Bingley on April 7th, and one on the 20th April at another site. There will be a work party at Coppice Pond on Sunday 7th Jan to improve fish habitat and bankside planting  Members are welcome to lend a hand as this is quite a large task The party will be meeting at the pond at 10.00am. Those wanting to lend a hand would be advised to bring waders if possible as some of the work is water based.   Please note – there may be some disruption to angling in the areas where the works are being undertaken so do be aware of this when setting of for the days fishing!

Cormorant Watch

Angling Trust and Fish Legal have relaunched the Cormorant Watch website so that we can log sightings of Cormorants and Goosanders on club waters, subjected data may help to introduce more effective control measures on fish eating birds which are decimating fish stocks on all UK waters. We have received sad news today that life member Clifford Bennett passed away last night, and we express our sympathy to all his family and friends. Clifford was a committee member and watcher from at least the early 1980’s, some of our older members may well remember having their books checked by him at Coppice Pond or Harden Dam. He was elected as Chairman at the 1987 AGM (replacing current President Bruce Howard), and retired from his post and committee at the 1991 AGM where he was awarded life membership. AGM 2017

This years AGM will start at 8.00pm prompt on Tuesday 14th November 2017 at The Ryshworth Club, Crossflatts, Binlgley BD16 2HB All proposals must be submitted in writing to the club secretary by 31st October, along with details of the proposer and seconder. And claimers for the specimen fish trophy, should also submit their claims with supporting evidence by 31st October. The meeting will be followed with a pie & peas supper 🙂
